It should have been a Snow Day

So as I sit here at my desk at work and see that it’s not yet 4pm, I pray that I’ll be able to keep my eyes open for another hour. I’m tired and a bit cranky and I blame it all on the snow.

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love the snow and may well be shocked to hear the statement above. However if you were kept up by an over zealous maintenance man snow blowing outside your window every hour on the hour all evening and early morn you would understand. So after an evening of no sleep and an alarm going off an hour early to allow time for shoveling, it’s no wonder that I am dragging today. Yes, we only had about 9 inches compared to the 24 inches of our last storm…but let me tell you…working on no sleep—that 9 felt like 24!

Add to that the fact that I didn’t have time this morning to take any pictures and it will be pitch black by the time I get home at 6pm.

Anyway–I’ve come to a few conclusions in no particular order:
1. No good comes of too little sleep-everything rubs me the wrong way.
2. Snow is 100% more enjoyable when you have the time to enjoy it.
3. Work should be closed if the schools are closed–though that will never happen here (my boss was mad that no one showed up after the last storm despite the fact that the governor declared a State of Emergency and requested that no one take to the roads)
4. Shoveling is much more fun as a team sport…as are most activities.
5. 6pm is nap time!

  1. Hi Melissa!
This is the first time I visited your blog and I think you and I’m so glad I did! I agree with you about the snow. I love it unless my only interactions with it are shoveling it and driving in it! Looking forward to exploring more.

    Thanks,
    Amy
